Needed: 2 - light 5” squares and 2-dark 5” squares also 4- light 2½” squares and 4-dark 2½” squares. These smaller squares are easily created by cutting a 5” square into fourths. Mark a diagonal line on each of the 8 small squares. Place a light 2½” square on opposite corners of a dark 5” square. Sew across the diagonal marks. Press the resulting corners open. Cut away the underneath corner. Square to 5” x 5”.  Repeat the process using dark 2½” squares on light 5” squares.
