For (A): Shiny Gold or Silver or Sparkly Fabric
For (B): Medium Grey
- Cut one 3 ½” by 6 ½” rectangle from (B).
- Cut one 3 7/8” square from (B).
- Cut one 3 ½” square from (B).
- Cut one 6 7/8” square from (B).
- Cut one 3 7/8” square from (A).
- Cut one 6 7/8” square from (A).
- Make two half square triangle squares using the 3 7/8” squares. There should be two 3 ½” squares.
- Make two half square triangle squares using the 6 7/8” squares. There should be two 6 ½” squares, but this block will only use one.
- Join the 3 ½” (B) square to the (A) side of one of the smaller half square triangle squares.
- Join the previous row to the (A) side of the large half square triangle square as shown.
- Join the (A) side of the other small half square triangle square to a short end of the (B) rectangle.
- Join the two rows together as shown.
Half-Square Triangle Instructions
- Cut squares from the two chosen fabrics that are 7/8" larger than the finished size of the units.
- Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner on the reverse side of the lightest square. Draw two more lines, each one ¼", from the original diagonal line.
- Place right sides together with the lighter square on top. Sew on the ¼” inch line.
- Cut the triangles apart on the center line and press open. Trim. There will be 2 half square triangles that should measure finished size plus ½”.
