Start with two 5” squares, one a light fabric, the other a dark. Draw a line diagonally on the light one, place them right sides together and sew a scant ¼” on either side of the diagonal mark.  Cut on the diagonal line, press open.  Again draw a diagonal line in the opposite direction on one of the half-square triangles. With right sides together and the dark and light triangles opposite each other, stitch a scant ¼” on either side of the line. Cut on the diagonal line to yield two hourglass units. Press open and square to 4 ¼”x4 ¼”. Repeat four more times and bring all 10 units to the August meeting.
