Ultra-Suede Applique

SUPPLIES

•    Ultra - suede (black)
•    black sharpie ape dint pun to trace animal silhouette onto paper
•    white chalk marking pencil (sharp) or Gellyroll (write) pen
•    sharp scissor (large and small)
•    tracing paper (copy paper held at window) light box
•    fabric glue stick or Elmer`s school glue stick
•    or (option) 505 fabric temporary spray
•    freezer paper (option)
•    Sulky Invisible thread
•    stiletto

variety of background fabric (forest, streams, rocks, hills, etc)
animal silhouettes (can be found in sorting catalogs, childless books wildlife caulks etc)

PREPARE THE BACKGROUND PIECE (sky, hills, water, arts, etc)

  1. trace animal (objects) silhouette onto ultra-suede or (option) freer pair, prep lightly shiny side down, cut out
  2. cut directly on the line
  3. turn silhouette over so write marks do not show
  4. glue stick (or spray) in place on the background piece
         (PLACE PIECES)

SEWING
  1. loosen top thread tension 1 or 2 notch (invisible thread will not pull or curl)
  2. sew straight-stitch on the very edge of the appliqué piece (there will be no fraying of edges with ultra-suede)

FASTER YET, LAYER FOR QUILT PIECE AND MACHINE QUILT ALL AT ONCE
